Nearly 220,000 birds have died in an outbreak of bird flu in Chile

Chile’s Ministry of Agriculture has reported to WOAH an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Chile, according to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

The outbreak occurred in Talka Province, Maule Region, and was confirmed in April 2023. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Clinical and laboratory tests found that 220,000 birds were suspected to have been infected, of which 160,000 became ill and died, and 60000 were killed and disposed of, all with  animal waste rendering plant  equipment微信图片_20200530103454
