The Hong Kong SAR government issued a press release on Apr-28, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of food safety center announced that , in response to notification from the Polish Veterinary Inspectorate Service, center immediate instructions industry suspended imports of poultry and poultry products in the region (including eggs),To protect public health in Hong Kong for the outbreak of highly pathogenic bird flu H5N8 Ostrodzki strict, Masuria province,Poland.
According to the Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong imported about 13,500 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and about 39.08 million eggs from Poland last year. A spokesman for the Centre said:The Centre has contacted the Polish authorities regarding the event,and will continue to closely monitor the information of the World Organization for Animal Health and relevant authorities on the outbreak of avian influenza and take appropriate actions in light of the development of the situation
