H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak in Czech Republic
According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on May 16, 2022, the Czech National Veterinary Administration reported to the OIE that an outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza occurred in the Czech Republic.
The outbreak occurred in Strakonice County, South Bohemia, and was confirmed on January 5, 2022. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory tests found that 277 mallards were suspected of being infected, of which 12 became ill, and 277 were killed and disposed of.
Now that the epidemic is over, the Czech National Veterinary Administration will no longer submit any reports.
