In April 2023, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) compiled poultry and pork export data for the month of March.
In March, Brazil exported 514,600 tons of poultry meat, up 22.9% from the same period last year. Revenue reached $980.5 million, up 27.2% from the same period last year.
From January to March 2023, a total of 131.4 million tons of poultry meat was exported. An increase of 15.1% from the same period in 2022. Revenue grew 25.5% in the first three months. The cumulative revenue from January to March of 2023 is 2.573 billion dollars.
Brazil has been bracing itself for rising exports and import demand from key markets. Several factors sent exports soaring in March: delays in some shipments in February; Summer demand preparation accelerated in Northern Hemisphere markets; In addition, some infected poultry meat also needs to be treated with animal waste rendering plant equipment due to the shortage of products in some areas
In the first three months, China imported 187,900 tons of Brazilian poultry meat, up 24.5%. Saudi Arabia imported 96,000 tons, up 69.9%; The European Union imported 62,200 tons, up 24.1%; South Korea imported 50,900 tons, up 43.7%.
We see growing demand for Brazilian poultry products in China; In addition, demand is growing in the European Union, the United Kingdom and South Korea. Also worth mentioning is Iraq, which was virtually paralyzed in 2022 and is now considered one of the main export markets for Brazilian products.
