Argentina’s National Bureau of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Quality Inspection and Quarantine said the local authorities have detected 59 confirmed cases of A and H5 bird flu in 11 provinces and more than 300 suspected cases since the country was confirmed to be infected on June 15.Of the confirmed cases, 49 are free-range farm poultry, six are from large-scale commercial poultry farms and the remaining four are wild birds. More than 700,000 birds kept in six breeding sites with infected cases have been culled and their carcasses disposed of in animal waste rendering plant ,In order to prevent the spread of the virus, in addition to the culling of birds, Argentina’s Ministry of Agriculture and related animal prevention authorities have also established a 10-kilometer quarantine zone around the site of confirmed cases of bird flu, and are pushing for the detection of wild and captive birds in and around the area.
