About 716,000 birds have been infected in Russia

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has reported to WOAH an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in Russia.The outbreak is in the Syktevkin district of the Komi Republic and was confirmed on 11 October 2023. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory tests found that 716,386 birds were suspected to have been infected, of which 400 became ill and died. It needs to  waste rendering plant .The outbreak is still ongoing and the Russian Ministry of Agriculture will submit weekly follow-up reports.
